You are the only person, THE ONLY PERSON, in your community who can save starlight. Your neighbor won’t do it, local astronomers won’t do it, not the mayor, city council members, business owners, no one...just you!

Demand dark skies! You must tell every business owner, every civic official, every resident over and over and over and over and over and over and over... SMART LIGHTS = STARRY NIGHTS!
Not in a mean-spirited manner, not by boisterous boycott, not with a law-- which says, "You will or else!" Nope. There’s an easier, subtler, less confrontational and controversial way. . .
MONEY!
It’s all about money! Not surprisingly, it usually is! So, let’s talk money! Americans waste $5 MILLION worth of light every night? About $2 BILLION every year-- wasted--shining into the night sky, reflecting off bird’s bellies!
It all comes down to profit. If there’s profit to be made, the sky will be dark!
Let me explain: If you don’t see a product you want at your local grocery store / market, you tell the manager to order and stock it. Alas, chances are the product won’t appear--NO PROFIT! But wait: Suppose dozens (hundreds, thousands) of customers clamor for the same product? It will appear quickly because the demand insures profit.
And the same technique works with a DARK SKY REVOLUTION!
Which wheel gets greased? The squeaky wheel, of course. So, let’s get squeakin’ in every hamlet, village, town, and city across America, today!
DEMAND DARKNESS! INCITE A DARK SKY REVOLUTION and reclaim your starlight birthright, tonight!
Remember, you are not demanding lights be turned off or seeking changes that are impossible. You are demanding (politely) that lights be efficient and shine DOWN on the targets of safety and security. YOU are a target of security and safety! Again, SMART LIGHTS = STARRY NIGHTS
If one out of every 500 people in your commmunity demanded dark skies, it should be enough to launch a DARK SKY REVOLUTION where you live! But only you can initiate the revolution.
